We are a discipleship based youth ministry under Mahanaim International Ministries where we believe that as followers of Christ we are all called to be disciples.
Disciples Produce Disciples…
That through a relationship between mentor and disciple Ottawa may be impacted by the fruit of discipleship.
For many centuries the church has adopted the Greek educational model of teaching which is most often used today. In the Greek model the relationship between a teacher and the disciple requires no examination of the life of either the teacher or the disciple, for the method of learning is entirely mental. Greek teachers are teaching their students how to think and manipulate ideas and not teaching their students how to live. Therefore, the place of learning is within the four walls of the academy. Our mandate is to establish the Hebraic model of teaching within the youth where discipleship is the examination of the life of the teacher. The lesson to be learned by the student is how to live like the teacher.
To pass an examination in the Greek educational system is to articulate a certain system of ideas or to prove that one can manipulate ideas like the teacher. To pass an examination in Hebrew discipleship, the student must show he can do what the teacher does. Jesus examined the disciples by sending them out to do as He does. The most important skill of a successful disciple in the Hebraic model was that of imitation. In short, discipleship isn’t just what you know, but how you live according to what you have learned. When Jesus told His disciples to make disciples of all the nations, He told them to teach these new disciples everything He taught them when He walked on this earth.
“Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20)
Doers, not Just Hearers…
Our mission is to raise a generation that will do exactly what has been revealed to them. That the revelation of the Father may not become stagnant in each of the disciples lives but become fruitful.
